About Our School

Welcome to Bervie School. The school roll for session 2020-21 is 255 pupils and we have ten primary classes this year. We are very fortunate to have a Nursery within our school which can take up to 24 children in each of our 2 sessions per day. Our whole school community works together to provide the best possible learning experiences for all of our children.

Bervie School is the only school in Inverbervie and is the largest school on the coast between Stonehaven and Montrose. The school is non-denominational and its catchment area includes the surrounding rural community. The school was built in 1937 and was originally a secondary modern school. In 1969 it became a primary school. Various extensions to the building have been made, one including a nursery class in 1996 and another in 2000 which provided an additional classroom.  The latest addition is our fantastic Nursery and additional classroom, which was officially opened in October 2019.  During construction period, the school dining hall was given a much needed extension, which means that everyone can now enjoy eating together in two sittings.

Bervie School has strong links with its parents and the wider community. Bervie School Association (BSA) is our parent council and is made up of both parents and staff members.

Friends of Bervie School (FOBS) is our fundraising parent group and we are very lucky to have a group of conscientious and enthusiastic parents who work hard to raise funds for the school.

We pride ourselves on working in partnership with parents and providing a learning community where all of our learners are encouraged to maximise their full potential.

We are very proud to have achieved a Level 2 Rights Respecting Schools Award.  You can read our assessment report here.
